Not an Australia soap but a good Canadian show

the eleventh hour

Am watching “The Eleventh Hour” right now while I work on the site. This is a Canadian-made show about the world of investigative journalism. Not too bad, especially if you’re like me and only get CTV and CBC on your TV (boy I miss my digitial cable).

One of the characters said to Sonja Smits‘ character, Megan, “Well, you’re from…down east, aren’t you? Newfoundland?” only to be told that Megan is from Halifax. “It’s the same thing, isn’t it?”. NOT. I can’t count the number of times someone who isn’t from the Maritimes has told me that so and so was from the same place I am (which to me means Halifax or at the very most somewhere in Nova Scotia) only to learn that the person they’re talking about is from Newfoundland. No, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia aren’t the same thing. It’s like saying Sydney and Melbourne are the same thing — they might both be on the eastern side of the country but they’re definitely not the same place.

It only took 3 years…

Sent out the first announcement message in over three years earlier today. Wow! I hadn’t realized it had been quite so long since I’d touched base with everyone who signed up for the list (well, you certainly can’t say I’ve been swamping your inboxes with emails, can you? LOL). I’m already getting some good results in the poll (thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to vote so far).

The miracle of Google

Hmmm….Google….God….could be…it’s close. Miracles are a possibility where powers abound.

After someone tracked down my old personal page (which hasn’t been updated since Nov. 1998) through Google, I decided to check myself out in their search results. It’s a scary proposition if you spend any kind of presence on the Web. Let’s see….Tons (and I do mean tons) of references to my ODP editor profile page. The odd reference to my profile at other forums. That old personal web site coming back to bite me in the butt (I really should dismantle it one of these days). Geez, I really get around, don’t I. Who knew I’d been so many places (and who knew there was a little town near Jerusalim called Upper Motsa?).

Ah, and I see now why I get so much crap spam email at one of my email addresses. How nice of them to post my email address on the page like that. See, this is why I use Hotmail for my spam-catcher email address.

Funky stats for a little girl

You wouldn’t believe the number of hits this site gets from people looking for information about an adult film actress bearing the same name as a certain daughter of Molly and Brendan.

Can you picture the disappointment on their faces when they see that the C h l o e J o n e s mentioned on this site is just a little girl…and a fictional one at that. LOL Actually, wait…that could be kind of creepy. Still, wish I could just not turn up in those searches without having to change every page (guides, character pages, etc.) where those two names show up on the same page.

Looks a little empty, don’t it?

Just remembered yet another file that has disappeared with my hard drive problems.

A few days before the corruption, I had downloaded a copy of the guestbook and emptied the one that was on the server. I was planning to create a static “archive” page of it, like the previous guestbooks. But, well, can’t do that now with it being gone and all. Drats!

So, if you posted a guestbook comment that isn’t in the current book and isn’t in any of the archived versions, feel free to post again.
