Greedy or ignorant?

Periodically, I come across auctions on eBay in which the sellers are being either extraordinarily greedy or incredibly ignorant of the price points of the items they’re selling.

Someone is currently selling a collection of A Country Practice articles for $199.99 AUD. Most of the other items they’re selling are either auctions with $0.95 starting bids or “Buy it Now” items with reasonable (<$10) prices. But they’ve decided that their collections of A Country Practice and Neighbours articles are going to be lucrative. Meaning they think ACP and Neighbours fans are suckers. If I were going to pay $200 for a collection of articles, it damned well better be a massive collection, not the couple of dozen articles they have on offer. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t like some of the articles in the collection but certainly not enough to fork out $200, even if I had $200.

I also have to wonder at people who sell something like a fan card, which would fit in a regular mail envelope and cost regular mail postage, with a shipping charge of $6. I realize that eBay is all about making money but really?

[edited to add on September 5: Surprise, surprise. They haven't managed to sell those clippings yet so the latest price is $49.99.]

    bring A country practice back!!!!!!!!!!

i think ACP tackled alot of the issues of the day, back in the 1980s, i think we need to revive it, same setting, same style, new characters, a new terance, a new molly jones,

it would be like falling inlove all over again, re-capture our imaginations, , im so sick of american rubish, reality tv shows, and i dont want insight into the melbourne under-world (under-belly)

    Hello

I am so glad I found your website. What a slice of the past for me. I thought you should remember Fatso in the cast but then i am biased. Were those articles on eBay all original? Good content can be hard to find, but it looks like you probably had most of the topics already covered :)

I too have been watching the series on the hallmark channel and am also getting frustrated with the powers that be in as soon as they get to the episodes for the new year they go back and repeat the old episodes.
At the moment they are showing episodes from 1990. Lets hope we finally get to watch the whole seasons.
Thanks for a truly wonderful site to come and see what is happening with a great show.

    Hello from the UK

Just found this site after Googling “Wandin Valley”, after watching an episode on DVD from Series 2. Just received the DVD’s up to Series 5. Quite expensive really, but well worth it. I have been wondering if there was a dedicated site, and obviously there is/has been. I loved this series when it was aired in the UK in the 80’s. It is so deliciously corny and so watchable. I rate it along with Sons and Daughters, and The Sullivans, which all my family loved when it was shown in England.

I haven’t trawled through the menu of the site yet. I just wanted to post a message as I was so pleased that this great series does have a following.

n.b. Please could you change the colour background? The text is difficult to read against the green wallpaper.

Whoops. That tells you how often I look at the comments here instead of on the blog’s dashboard. (This is the problem with customizing a theme.) I’ll work on that.
